Creating a museum without walls
Durham, NC is considering an ambitious plan to revitalize a downtown street, Parish Street, by combining exhibits and kiosks that illustrate the history of Durham's tobacco industry, African-American entrepreneurship and traditional arts and crafts. Parrish Street was the birthplace of the city's first tobacco operations. In the early 1900's the street represented the center of the city's African-American commercial district.
