A Champion

I'm thinking about leadership this morning and the definition of a champion. I was in a conversation last week about it and the person I was speaking with said, "A champion is someone who would do what they're doing, even if they weren't getting paid". I also noticed this from Don Iannone today:

"We do need leadership, but not of the sort some are thinking about. We need more folks (thousands of them) who understand the intersection between self-reliance and interdependence, and know how to couple the two in business and society."

What do you think a leader or champion is?
