This morning I attended a ConnectionSeries sponsored event with one of Cleveland's established leaders and Chair of TCF Board of Directors. It was constant reminder of the importance of dialogue and the need to consistently push the issue of new and emerging leadership to the inside porch of Cleveland's established corporate leadership. The radical idea is: Why don't we organize a community dialogue on leadership with the Cleveland Bridge Builders, MotiAsians. Asian-Indian Americans for Better Government, The City Club New Leaders and others WITH the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, Cleveland Tommorrow, The Cleveland and Gund Foundations and the CEO's of the major corporations in in town?I was invited to attend and am grateful for Craig and Sue catalyzing the event and for Jack Sherwin to spend time with us. He obviously has a reason for reaching out to us youngsters. He also mentioned that one of his goals is to lower the ambient age of leadership by about fifteen years, which puts it at 50. People like Tony Houston and I are in our mid-30s. I hope that our current leaders can deal with some of these issues now, so that in 15 years, I'll still be around. Hopefully, someone else will be too. In the meantime, I think it would be great if just 2 of the groups that Tony mentions sat down together. Who'll be the first?
