Despair of the Jobless
I know several people personally [with advanced degrees and experience] who fall into the discouraged bucket. What most people do not realize is how MISLEADING the unemployment statitics are -- they ONLY count the recently unemployed. People say "what's so bad about 6%?" Nothing, it is the hidden 10+% that are on the brink, that we need to worry about. Those who have been unemployed for a long time are dropped from the numbers and in other ways ignored -- just when they need attention the most!I'm glad Valdis doesn't have his own blog. I'm more than happy to post the content he suggests on mine. You could send me your ideas too. Email them to the address posted on the left.
