for some reason, i'm having another one of those nights. i got up for some reason and my thoughts wouldn't quiet down enough to let me go back to sleep.

one thing of the things that disturbed me was an op ed piece by Crain's Chris Thompson about Cleveland�s fortunes being left to luck. In his words, "A new model of civic involvement is needed to keep city from dismal fate". The big problem, Chris points out, is that the local organizations who are trying to improve the city's fate are " having their efforts hampered by a civic culture that distrusts public discussion, abhors serious debate and insists on doing things the way they were done 20 years ago."

i know. why worry about the fate of the region that i work in? i can't help it. i care. what really bugs me is the lack of leadership in this area. kudos to chris for having the balls to shed some light on the issue.
