Volunteering in Cleveland — Finding Volunteer Opportunities in Cleveland

The E Prep School tutoring program is expanding to 8:30-11:35 Saturday mornings May 12-July 14 (except May 26 and June 30). This growth is in response for an urgent need. 27 students will be selected for Saturday classes. Each student has MUCH TO GAIN, since each one is at risk of repeating 6th grade.

We plan to assign three students to each tutor. As a Volunteer Tutor on Saturday mornings your schedule may look like the following:

8:30-8:45 Arrival. (Building entrance may be closed after 8:45; in that case call Mr. Stragand at 216-973-4191 to gain access.) Sign in. Take/make a name tag.

8:45-9. Briefing for the day.

9-9:45 Period 1 with Student A

9:45-10:30 Period 2 with Student B

10:30-11:15 Period 3 with Student C

11:15-11:35 Write up notes and comments. Exchange ideas with other tutors. Check your schedule for future tutoring. Invite others to join the tutoring program. Socialize. (Students will be in the computer lab.)

11:35-12 Join students and faculty for pizza lunch. (OPTIONAL)

— Sign out. Return name tag. Enjoy your day and weekend knowing that you made very big gift to a Cleveland student and to E Prep.

Tutors will be associated with one of three specialty areas. 1. Basic Math Facts, 2. Math Problem Solving, and 3. Reading Comprehension. Do not be intimidated; these are 6th graders who struggle with the material and will benefit greatly from your one on one attention.

We are looking for a commitment to five of the eight Saturdays. ALL EIGHT SATURDAYS WILL BE IDEAL.

Evening tutoring from 5-6 Monday through Thursday continues.
