Featuring GLBC beers. The menu looks fantastic.
I’m more than happy to brag about this. Plus there’s room for improvement. If you click thru to the Forbes article, of the #1 city:
Milwaukeeans have plenty of other ways to entertain themselves without drinking alcohol, said Dave Fantle, a spokesman for the group. He noted a new convention center and baseball park had been built and the Milwaukee Art Museum expanded in recent years.
Shoot. We’ve been drinking @ those places for years. Think it’ll sway the RNC’s decision?
I’m back after taking a break. Based on all the various news feeds available you start to feel like the old AP Wire machine trying to stay ahead of the news.
Now This Is The Way To Do A Biz Blog - Too bad the link provided in the press release doesn’t work. But the strategy sounds right on the mark. “CLEVELAND — Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI), a leader in solutions for emerging measurement needs, announces the first Weblog, or Blog, designed exclusively for engineers confronting testing issues in the semiconductor industry. The Semiconductor Test Blog informs visitors of the latest technical and business developments in the semiconductor industry and their impact on testing. The Blog is coordinated by Solid State Technology magazine and can be accessed directly at http://sst.pennet.com.” dBusinessNews: Keithley Sponsors Weblog for Semiconductor Testing
OSTN Connects With Canadian Schools - I really like OSTN’s application of open social computing. One of those, “I wish I’d a thought of that” ideas. “August 9, 2006: Toronto, Canada and CLEVELAND, USA - Open Student Television Network (OSTN), the only 24-hour, seven-day global channel exclusively devoted to student-produced programming, partnered with the ORION research and education network to bring OSTN to Ontario.” I can’t find a link to the press release so send an email to tech.bfd and we’ll forward it.
OneCommunity/OneCleveland Spreads OneLove to Third Frontier Network - “Many of our members on the OneCommunity network have relationships with organizations and institutions throughout Ohio,” said Scot Rourke, president of OneCommunity. “By helping our members to connect seamlessly to sites on the Third Frontier Network, we will enable them to be more effective, it will foster new collaborations and accelerate the transformation of the region as a technology innovator and leader.” I say let the transformation acceleration begin and let tech.bfd know when some tangible apps play out. The best tangible benefit is OneCommunity members will now be able to connect to Internet2. I was wrongly assuming all Universities were already connected to I2. Sorry Lev, I guess I just miss the Corporate Cornhole when it comes to this academia stuff

Are You A Thirsty LOCAL Traveler? - Then check out ClevelandBrew.com. I think they do a great job with this website. Not that people need help when it comes to drinking booze, but if you’re planning on throwing a few (or more) back around town, this is a great resource. I like the Party Planner app. Not that they asked for my opinion but it would be nice to see some of the establishments reward DDs (free soft drinks, etc.).
Time to bust out for a ride on my mountain bike in the CVNP. The weather doesn’t get any better than this (other than an Indian Summer day in the Fall) and the CVNP is, in my opinion, a tremedous regional asset that isn’t appreciated or publicized enough.
Brews. Having lived in Akron for years I think I sometimes appreciate the diversity Cleveland offers more than locals. I know MTB, etc. have a soft spot, as do I, for The Town Fryer but last night I decided to act on the Tech Czar’s rec to check out the Happy Dog (SW Corner of W. 58th & Detroit Ave.) for a $2.25 Pabst Pint. It’s been highlighted here on BFD before but be sure to check out their website and then stop in. Great food, drink, music and more. And with nightly cheap eats specials you’ll leave with money in your pocket.
Beats. It must be hump day because I went searching for some new Internet radio destinations to spice up the morning with my coffee. I didn’t realize it until now but it must have been sounds of Ghetto Wisdom echoing in my head from Bloggapalooza that sent me looking. My search turned up Etherbeat Radio - “the urban alternative.” Check it out, if it doesn’t inspire you’re blogging check your pulse. Maybe we can help GW get some airtime?
P.S. I’d love to start a list of what BFD readers listen too on the Net. And it would be great if we could uncover some LOCAL Internet Radio destinations. Any “Pirate Radio” stations still finding their way on to the Cleveland airwaves? If you’d like to share your favs be sure to comment and/or send an email here.
