George Nemeth: Art/Tech/Dance/3

I can’t wait for Thursday:

The third in a series of popular Cool Cleveland after-work networking parties, this one is subtitled, Innovation/Immigration, in order to honor the immigrant entrepreneurial spirit that built Cleveland around the turn of the century, but that we have somehow forgotten about. Check out the beautiful Lin’s Omni Center at 3167 Fulton near Clark in the area that the 2000 US Census called “the most culturally diverse community in the State of Ohio,” and party with multicultural performance (Aphrodesiatics, Cats On Holiday, SAFMOD) and international food from around the region. Same open bar and casual atmosphere as the last A/T/D parties, but now you can enjoy the great view of Cleveland’s skyline from the 25,000 square foot fourth floor space and groove to the sights and sounds of the area’s coolest cultural sensations. Thu 6/5 4-9PM. Register now before it’s too late!

If you go to one event in the month of June, I’d recommend Art/Tech/Dance.

George Nemeth: Move Art/Audience

Geof took some cool pics last night.

George Nemeth: Pointing Out

One of the things I like to do with this blog is point out what other people are saying. That’s the nature of the internet, the hyperlink. A prime example, the title of this post links to Steve Goldberg’s blog. Both of his latest posts very much parallel some of the things I’ve experienced and thought over the last few days. So go ahead, read what Steve has to say. Besides, I’ve got to head downtown with my wife to the CWRU Book Sale. I don’t have time to blog all about the last 24 hours.

George Nemeth: Blog Event Wiki

I’ve started a page to collect the comments I’m seeing about the seminal event last night. Click on the title of this post to go there.

George Nemeth: The Blogging Event

I’m running late this morning. I should be on my way downtown for breakfast, but I wanted to say thanks to some people first.

Thanks to SPJ and AIP for sponsoring. Thanks John for mcee’ing. Thanks to all the panelist for making it interesting. Most of all, thank you all for attending. You’re the one’s who made it fun.

I hope all of you will start your own blogs. If you need any help or have any other questions, please email me.

More later…

George Nemeth: Center Stalled

Mike Nemeth was in town recently and related the story of being shut down because of a recent series of videos based on the Joe Millionaire TV show. A visiting congressman questioned whether or not a West Point cadet should be spending time making parodies. Mike sent out an email to his list saying there was nothing this week and got back emails from officers around the world saying how disappointed everyone was.

My point is, we take our freedoms for granted. I think Mike will be back on line soon. Hopefully, he keep telling great stories. I look forward to hearing how this one plays out when he comes back from Europe this summer.

George Nemeth: Roasting Again

In the middle of the night, I came downstairs and noticed a large box by the door. My coffee roaster is fixed!

George Nemeth: Regarding the Event

Tonight I think Eric puts it best:

“Be there or suck.”

George Nemeth: She Speaks!

I think I’ll start referring to Rocky Lewis as the Anti-Blogger. Mojo Nixon would say “there’s no blogging in her”. Yet Sage is dragging her to the AIP event tonight on Blogging. You’ll know her by the extremely bored look on her face!

George Nemeth: May’s Gone By

Too fast. It’s the end of the month. That means breakfast at Bobby’s Dinner. I know its last minute but we’ll be there at 7:30AM if you can make it. Just so you know, we get together there the last Friday of the Month. Mark your calendars now.

George Nemeth: Thought for Today

Stayed up last night watching the David Lynch classic:

George Nemeth: Don’t Tell Thomas

But I’ve started a blog about Cool Cleveland. The posts that are up now are from the Cleveland Magazine email that goes out every week. I’ll include some of the ones read on WCLV and pick some out of the newsletter. Please leave your comments.

George Nemeth: Someone Else Noticed

Barbara has an opinion about the email NEOSA director Jim Cookingham circulated today. Click the title and go read it.

George Nemeth: Wiki and Klatch

Just wanted to point out that there’s some interesting stuff going on over on the BFD Wiki and Klatch pages. I’d invite you to check it out and participate!

George Nemeth: Schumann Update

Make sure you check Mark’s page. He’s got some good stuff up there.

All you Clevelanders that complain about the lack of anything to do need to SHUT UP. The rest of you around the country need to sit up and take notice. There’s a lot of cool things happening over the next few weeks in this town. CrainTech has a nice preview here:

Memorial Day festivities are over and that means the summer party season has arrived. The local tech community is getting into the swing of things with several events that should be on your social-work calendar. Each week this summer we’ll take a look ahead at the next few weeks and help you decide the places you should be.

A couple of things they’ve left off include The Performance Art Festival and the next edition of the NEOpreneur EXchange. I’m glad they’ve decided to take advantage of the good weather and have it outside on the viaduct. It also lowers the price to a few fins. The only thing they need to do now is to make sure that some of those entrepreneurs get a little culture at SPACES. For all the talk about the creative class, it’s time to put up, or shut up.

George Nemeth: Born Again

Fellow Clevelander Jim Kukral has been hard at work on a book about… Blogging! The problem is, he’s been so busy, he hasn’t had time to blog himself. He stopped by BFD yesterday, and after some thought decided to breath some life back into his blog. Click on the title of this post and check it out.

I think it’s a great idea. If he’s got a book coming out next month, what better way to promote it then by annoucing it on your blog? I know some of you have done something similar. Could you leave me a comment about it?

George Nemeth: Candy

Show Cyn at candygenius.com some love for me by visiting her blog. She gave me a gift of 5000 shares of Blogcritics, making me a virtual millionaire.

George Nemeth: The Cramps

Trying hard to build up a head of steam today. Saw the Cramps last night. I’m amazed that after not seeing them for almost 10 years, they still put on a great show. What the heck did Lux do to his teeth? Looks like Poison Ivy isn’t the only one with the chops now.

The crazy thing is, I bumped into a guy I dragged to see the same band the last time I saw them. He works in Youngstown and saw that they were coming while he was reading the PD in Warren. He drove an hour and twenty minutes to find a venue he’d never heard of, let alone been to. It was great running into you, Pete! I hope you enjoyed the show.

Speaking of the PD, look for Jane Scott’s review. My wife and I gave up our booth in the Tavern to her, but only AFTER Uncle Scratch’s Gospel Revival was over.
