How did our government lead us to war? How did it communicate to us – and to the wider world – the reasons and rationale for initiating military conflict? And how was our nation brought to support the profound decision to wage war against another nation?
This 72-minute film compiles archival news footage –- without commentary -– presented chronologically from President Bush’s State of the Union address in January, 2002 (the “axis of evil” speech), and continuing up to the announcement of formal U.S. military action in Iraq on March 19, 2003.
Juxtapose this movie with two books by Washington Post correspondents: Fiasco (focusing on military issues) and Imperial Life in the Emerald City (focusing on reconstruction issues).

Some hospitals have started hosting patient-authored blogs on their Web sites as clinicians begin to recognize the therapeutic value. Unlike a bedside journal, blogging offers the added benefit of receptive readers in similar situations, Morgan explains: “Individuals are connecting to one another and witnessing each other’s expressions—the basis for forming a community.”

If you’re looking for a good way to start a relaxing long weekend, I suggest stopping by The ConsciousNest between 6-10PM tonight for a bit of reflexology. While you’re there, you might want to look for Lindsey, the new yoga instructor, who’s there at 5PM on Mondays and Tuesdays (that I’m sure of). Those classes are only $10.

Fair Trade is fair to the retailer. From Terra:
In its quest to improve its image and gain new customers, Wal-Mart has ventuered into organic food, energy saving appliances, and now, Fair Trade. That’s right, Wal-Mart is selling Fair Trade goods. They have decided to pay people a fair wage for the products they produce and supply to the mega-store. Wal-Mart is starting with Fair Trade coffee…

In the colossal crash, I lost all of my author accounts. I’ll try to export them from the old database, but if you’d like to contribute to bfd, would you mind registering again?
Thanks!

Out of the ashes of a horrendous crash… I’m starting over on a new install of Wordpress. I’ll be rebuilding the archives soon, but for now, I ask for you patience while we’re working on it.
