Dustin Dwyer · A New Frank Lloyd Wright House In Michigan?
January 23rd, 2012
Frank Lloyd Wright has to be the most famous architect of the 20th century, and if you’re in the Industrial Midwest, you’re never far from one of his creations. Now, more than 50 years after Wright’s death, a property owner in Ludington, Mich. says there’s a way to own a completely new home designed by the famous architect.
In 1945, Detroiter George Berdan commissioned Wright to design a home for him in Ludington. The property sits on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Wright completed the design, but Berdan never built the house. The property’s current owner Beth Dilley says she’s now “come to terms with the fact” that she won’t be able to build it either.
So she’s selling the property, with Wright’s design included in the asking price. It can be yours for a mere $1,695,000.
If that’s too steep, you could always try Wright’s Palmer House in Ann Arbor, Mich. It’s available to rent.
