Micki Maynard · Results Pour in On Election Night 2010
November 2nd, 2010
Updated early Wednesday
The 2010 election is turning out to be an eventful one for the Changing Gears region. Our Changing Gears partners are providing live coverage with reports from NPR and their own newsrooms.
Meanwhile, our public broadcasting partners at The Newshour are streaming live on the Web for the first time. Watch here.
Here’s a quick summary of major results:
–In Michigan, voters elected businessman Rick Snyder as the state’s first Republican governor since John Engler left office in 2003.
–In Ohio, Republican Jon Kasich defeated Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland.
–In Pennsylvania, Republican attorney general Thomas Corbett defeated Democratic nominee Dan Onorato.
–Wisconsin voters chose Republican Scott Walker over Democrat Tom Barrett. Walker is also the state’s first Republican governor since 2003.
–The governor’s race in Illinois appeared to be a dead heat early Wednesday. The Associated Press declared Republican Paul Kirk the victor over Alexi Giannoulias in the race for President Obama’s old U.S. Senate seat.
