Ed Morrison · Some interesting ways to keep eyes on the stimulus
March 21st, 2009
From Vince Perricelli:
Jerry Brito of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University testified March 19th before the U.S. House of Representatives. He spoke about preventing waste and fraud with respect to government stimulus funds by “crowdsourcing accountability” to the public through the Internet. Download his testimony here. Brito crowdsourced what he was going to say before testifying. (I will note that it appears to have been a small “crowd.”) Brito has also launched StimulusWatch.org to allow citizens to rate/comment on proposed uses of stimulus funding. StimulusWatch lists a number of proposed stimulus projects for Ohio. There are none for Cleveland, but there are numerous projects for elsewhere in northeastern Ohio.
