Ed Morrison · More confusion in the Indians’ business model
July 29th, 2009
With today’s trade, it looks like a lot of people are resigning as an Indians fans. This trade of yet another high profile player makes the Indians business model even murkier.
If anyone has a theory on what the Dolans are doing, I’d like to see it. (Meanwhile, I’m now officially a Detroit Tigers fan.)
A comment posted on the PD:
Thank you Cleveland!!!
As a Phillies fan, I appreciate you giving up your best pitcher for three scrubs and 1 propect, while allowing us to hold on to our top 4 prospects, along with our # 4 starter.
If we win another world series, you will have our hearfelt thanks!!!

It’s Moneyball. They’re trying to wring the best team for the lowest amount of $ to max profits. By the time season tix go on sale next year, the diehard base will have forgotten this trade.

Well, apparently, the diehard base fills somewhat less than half the stadium, because that’s what they’ve been doing so far this year with Cliff Lee still on the team. We’ll see.
