Medical and pharmaceutical shows in 2008 were flat, with net square footage up 0.6 percent, number of exhibiting companies down 0.5 percent and attendance up 0.1 percent, as indicated by findings from Tradeshow Week’s Annual Report of Medical and Pharmaceutical Tradeshow Statistics (published in the March 16 issue of TSW).

Despite the sector’s decreases from 2007, when average net square footage saw increases of 2 percent, number of exhibiting firms 0.9 percent and attendance 3.1 percent, little or no growth in 2008 could be considered healthy, according to Michael Hughes, vice president of TSW research and consulting.
