		<description>Christine, it had to have been the now-defunct Cleveland Press (which closed in June &#039;82) that you saw his name in during that time period. He didn&#039;t begin appearing in the PD until the mid-&#039;90s. But your larger point is absolutely right: he was great back in the day.</description>

Over the last six months at work, I&#039;ve had occasion to go through a large volume of Plain Dealer clippings from the 1970s and 80s. Sometimes I&#039;d get sucked in and think, hey, this writer&#039;s got some great points here, only to look up with somewhat of a shock to see that it was Dick Feagler. I think of Dick Feagler today as what Seinfeld might&#039;ve been if they hadn&#039;t pulled the plug when it was still funny -- i.e., stale, pitiable, and vaguely embarrassing.</description>
