He didn't begin appearing in the PD until the mid-'90s. But your larger point is absolutely right: he was great back in the day. Over the last six months at work, I've had occasion to go through a large volume of Plain Dealer clippings from the 1970s and 80s. Sometimes I'd get sucked in and think, hey, this writer's got some great points here, only to look up with somewhat of a shock to see that it was Dick Feagler. I think of Dick Feagler today as what Seinfeld might've been if they hadn't pulled the plug when it was still funny -- i.e., stale, pitiable, and vaguely embarrassing.
