I called in and got Jose Luis Borges (the latest love of my life) a mention! That was a fun show and I have put in my resignation so that I can start reading....

I haven't checked the WCPN website -- but if they aren't posting the list, maybe BFD can? I am eager to see the recommendations (also eager for this so-called "summer" with time to read to arrive!)

Wouldn't it be great if WCPN linked to one of the local bookstores where we could order the books they mention? Maybe it's WCLV that has a partnership where the bookseller donates to them... maybe that's thru Amazon? I know, not a very well researched comment.

Bonjour Daniella,

I hope you get this message soon but you (and all of the folks who don't have access to an FM radio) can listen to The Sound of Ideas via WCPN's stream. You can find the links here.

That's how I listen most of the time.

Happy listening all!

George,

I'll be at work without access to the radio but I will listen to the show if they do a podcast. I wished I could be there. Books are so fascinating and Summer is a great time to find that big book.

I loved "A Hundred Year of Solitude' and read it for days sometimes laughing or wiping tears, always captivated. The master piece by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

In a different genre, I loved John Sanford's "Prey book serie."

Non-fiction: The Man who mistook his wife for a Hat by DR. Oliver Sacks was fascinating.

"Perfume" a story of perhaps the least lovable character to grace the face of a novel in modern history but what a great read! By Patrick Suskind. He is German, wrote the book in French and I read it English- talk about diversity.

Finally let's go back to Summer travel with Jack Kerouak with "On the Road" when gas was cheap, the road was young and anything was adventure.
