George Nemeth · Step2 Teams with CWRU’s Schubert Center, Extols Value of Creative Play
June 30th, 2008
From Ohio.com:
A new locally produced blog invites America’s parents to explore the value of play and share tips with each other.
CreativePlayPlus.com has been launched by Streetsboro toy maker The Step2 Co. and the Schubert Center for Child Studies at Case Western Reserve University.
The first contributions to the blog include a discussion of pretend play and an invitation for parents to talk about how they’re keeping their kids busy during the summer months.
Disclosure: I work for Optiem, and was part of the team that developed the blog. I guess you could say I’m coaching the bloggers. Please check it out, link to it if you’d like, and add your comments to it. Thanks!

Good for you, George, and how nice to be doing such important, creative work. And doubly good of you to include the disclosure.

Thanks, John. Got to be a good example to all those aspiring blogging pr folks out there. Crain’s has coverage on the CreativePlayPlus.com launch too.

I did see that Crain’s coverage. I love how in this case academia is teaming with business to do something so worthwhile. We could use a lot more of that. The social responsibility angle is key. I helped a client in Columbus launch a similar multi-author blog (link below) focusing on environmentally responsible approaches to e-waste, and have found it enormously rewarding. Let’s hope many more companies will follow in the footsteps of companies like these two.
