Northeast Ohio Food Congress explores ideas to make local food more available to region

University of Northern Iowa Local Food Project (UNI is one of the most innovative universities when it comes to economic development)
Research by the University of Minnesota shows that 95 percent of shoppers surveyed prefer to buy local foods, according to Robert King, economics professor at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. Their key motivation is to get better quality and freshness. Read more.

the explosive growth of the local food movement is very encouraging. the sobering perspective of stats regarding Ohio consumers serves to illustrate how far we can go in market share. last year 35 billion in food sales to Ohioans, 1 billion was sold at local farm mkts. and csa’s so let’s get more of the pie.
