Economic gardening (EG) is an emerging strategy that focuses on building networks that support homegrown entrepreneurs. The EG newsgroup is a good source of interesting posts from around the country on this strategy. Here’s one from this morning:

Ed: I love how you used the French spelling of library!

My French teacher in high school, M. Poirier, would be proud! Thanks for the flashback!

The French word for library is bibliotheque, n’est pas?
BTW–totally unrelated–Ed can you tell me why Cuyahoga County offers down payment assistance and special terms for acquisition of vacant housing, but does not seem to apply this program to Cuyahoga County? Not totally, since I work at a library and end up spending a lot of my time trying to help people find housing…

Sorry–I mean–apply the program to the City of Cleveland

County DOD got back to me right away. City of Cleveland FHA monies are not applied in the same way that the municipalities outside Cleveland pool their funds. Won’t it make sense to provide a similar program within City of Cleveland limits? My guess would be that money goes to float the bloat–the too many to count CDCs. Am I wrong?

Sorry not to belabor the point but Imcshane – given the question you are asking, I think you want to say “n’est-ce pas”…my high school French teacher also popped out of memory to question that construction :)

Oui, c’est vrai. Pardonnez-moi et merci beaucoup, Mademoiselle :)

Have you seen Code 46? I live with a mix of cultures here in my neighborhood. Combine that with bad French and voila! Franglais. I actually freeloaded off of a family in St. Cloud outside Paris during my JYA. Sadly, more often than not, I found myself speaking English with a French accent, rather than speaking French with an English accent. I have no facility for languages.
