This would be multi-millionaire Bruce Springsteen, who sold his Beverly Hills mansion for a mansion in New Jersey so that he could “return to his roots?” I liked him better when he was on the climb and could still relate to the average Joe through personal experience.

In one of our many discussions about Cleveland and what’s wrong with it, I told my husband that what Cleveland is lacking is a Bruce Springsteen. Someone who can really put down in song - or on paper, or film, or whatever - a semi-mythical sense of *place* about Cleveland, like the Boss did with Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Cleveland needs someone who can write an anthem for it, make it into an artistic and universal symbol that means a lot to a lot of people across a broad spectrum — something that inspires all kinds of passions: anger, ecstasy, regret, nostalgia, hope. Who can make Cleveland a place that people will make pilgrimages to, even, like people will trek across the country to go to the Stone Pony.
